180 Gram 12" LPs are both heavier and thicker than normal vinyl, which increases the durability of the record and the resistance to warping. Since part of the allure of vinyl is having something tangible, 180 Gram vinyl has a greater pressence than that of a standard weight 12". Being thicker it allows the engineer to record and cut the LP at the highest sound level possible. This is also why most 180 gram records sound more dynamic, deeper bass, higher highs etc and the thicker playing surface allows for better tracking of the cartridge. This level of sonic quality in playback is unattainable through today's digital technology in every medium [mp3, wav, cd] except BluRay."

A note from Ruxbin: As many of you know, Ive wanted to spin records in KFN since it opened. If you have the time and are so inclined, kindly share this event link and invite any audiophiles/beer snobs you may have in your friend lists; both will get off on this bar and it would mean a lot to me. I appreciate your support in this and ALL of my nights (!) and it's directly b/c of it that we get a chance to bring you a regular party in the nolibs area for the very 1st time! If you'd like an alternative to your regular neighborhood programming, please do come out at 10pm sharp and enjoy an arrogant bastard and some records with me!♥

A note on Dock Street's Summer Session Ale:
This refreshing session brew is here just in time for a hot summer in the city. Brewed with 50% wheat and aurora hops, this ale is then spiced with lemon grass and a hefty dose of fresh ginger root. Summer Session is pale golden in color with a grassy nose; floral up front with nuances of fresh lemon zest and ginger, followed by a dry thirst-quenching acidity in the finish. Only $4 for a 16oz Draft! (Normally $6)
DO IT DO IT!
See you there!
Love,
the 3 Girls Philly
