REAL TALK

Good Morning:

HIGHLIGHTED UPCOMING REAL TALK RAGERS W/ H MAZZ AND BIS
3.8.10 FAT TUESDAY MARDI GRAS RAGER WITH DJ SEGA
3.22.11 "MAJOR RAGER" WITH SKERRIT BWOY FROM MAJOR LAZER

We're goin REALLL HARDDDD with the lineup and festivities and couldn't possibly be anymore pumped!
...
We're going so hard that we have to charge a $5 cover to everyone who attends to pay for all the bands, dj's, LIGHTS and awesomeness that will be taking place!

We know you understand that we are going above and beyond to put together a truly one of a kind event for your entertainment and will be there with us to RAGE!

Ok let's get to it!

YES! This will be the FIRST Real Talk where we are incorporating bands!

These are some really cool acts that fit the vibe and spirit of FAT TUESDAY so we are bringing them in to party with us!

Mean Lady: originated as a duo between Katie Dill and Sam Nobles seeing it as a chance to create music together, using different mediums, textures, and styles than we were used to creating with Diego Paulo. The two started creating recordings that incorporated samples, upright pianos, vocals, ukuleles, bells, tambourines, electronic drums, and more. Check out some of their music at www.myspace.com/meanlady

Smoke Signals: another music child of Diego Paulo but with another dynamic element, including the frontman formerly of American Buffalo. They are doing a mix of American psychadelic world folk! Whattttt?> Yeah sounds pretty rad right!

The Bullets! Last but certainly not least of the bands we HAD TO have these veteran rockabilly/swing rockers light the room up for our Fat Tuesday RAGER! The Bullets just wail and will have you into a dance frenzy in no time with their rockabilly/swing renditions of some of your favorite classics done only The Bullets way!

The bands have finished and now it's time for the dj's to take the musical reins or reign if you will! haaa

Like every Real Talk Tuesday you can expect to see your residen dj's H Mazz and Bis go to work throwing down super hype house and heavy dubstep mixed up with some other jawns and tight mic control to keep the party RAGIN!

This weeks very special guests are coming to us form Philadelphia and are super pumped from all the pictures they have seen form our previous parties!

Aaron Ruxbin: The man behind Actual Records and A LOT of the newest parties to hit the Philadelphia scene over the past year. Aaron is actually a Delaware native who will be dropping a nice mix of big room house, dubstep and maybe even some Plow United! Trust when I say my man is hyped to come back to his home turf and go hard with us!

Dj Sega: What can we or can't we say about this talented young dj/producer from Philly reppin the Mad Decent family! Well he rocks all his own tracks, scratches hard and doesn't use headphones! Sega is way deep into this music thing and if you follow him you'll see that between how often he drops tracks and how often he's on an airplane flying to other cities and countries around the world to do what the Prince of Philly and Bmore club do!

To top it all off, we are bringing out a ton of extra lighting production to engulf the dance floor with lazers, beams of light, led washes and plenty of fog to make it all look like you just took trip into IDK WTF is going on but this is awesome party status town!

Yeoooo guys we are super pumped and we know you are too because this is going to be one epic Fat Tuesday party that no one is going to want to miss! Spread the word see you soon!

Yes Yes, what a great Collaboration! HMAZZ, our favorite from Delaware and two of our Philly fam our teaming up, EPIC!

Its That Time of the Month...

...No not THAT time, its Phonographic Thursday at Medusa!!!

HONOGRAPHIC with SPECIAL GUESTS:

...DJ PHSH (superdope, party + bullshit)
Phsh built his Superdope party from the ground up, outgrowing many a center city location before landing the rager off south street at Fluid, and aside from regularly packing that spot deeper than Ive ever seen he continues to bring huge crowds and big lineups wherever he spins (which is actually kind of hard to keep track of.) One night he's in West, the next South, the next NYC opening for someone I have to google at a giant venue. The kid's hustling, and he's one of the rare people deserving of the hype. A recent conversation revealed that he's been DJing since 14, and spent at least the first 4 years whipping vinyl only. That skill-building payed off last week in AC when Phsh, armed with only a small stack of Mad Decent releases, threw down an impromptu unbilled guest set at the Boneyard around 4am, to the marvel of onlookers and Chris Bush (who brought the 12"s). I'm psyched to hear the darker side of this deep crate digger at Phonographic, and I know that he's willing to accept the challenge from first-lady of Philly Dubstep Suga Shay. Expect to hear all the heaters in this battle for relationship-wobbling supremacy!!

SUGA SHAY (Brass Knuckles, MDM)
I first had the honor of catching Shay spin Mad Decent Monday as one of the rotating cast of residents, where her exuberance and song selection landed her squarely in the center of my radar before she was five tracks deep into her set. Unable to be contained by just one party, she quickly picked up a spot at Mojito and was instrumental in the Takeover of the Makeover, slaying big systems alongside veteran selectors as if it was her destiny. It didn't take long for the rest of philly to catch on either, and soon enough you could see Shaina almost everyday of the week, whether it be at PYT for Brass Knuckle Thursdays, 'In Jail' with Qi Command at the Institute for Indulge, in AC at the boneyard for F.M.L., or even laying down the bass-canon and whipping Indie Rock with DJ Ruxbin at the Dive Bar. Now she'll be doing what she does best: bringing the bass-thumping pain to an intimate dancefloor primed for the grimiest of synths and the darkest of dubs. Shay and Phsh will each be getting a full headlining set to battle it out and see whose dance floor is willing to rage the hardest!! This is going to be a full on rave cave battle!!

with residents:

DJ SEGA (Ryeot Powrr, Up In Smoke)
You know about DJ Sega. You live in Philadelphia. You've watched this kid out-hustle, out-work and out-DJ a lot of different people in a lot of different venues for years now. But what has he done for you lately? It's not like he's reissued his OOP mixedtape 'Back for the Last Time', or given away 2 free live sets from Phonographic at Medusa on Maddecent.com. TGRIoline and Actualrecords.org. Or teamed up with Rye Rye to give away over an hour of free music, including 9 original remix productions. He certainly didn't leak the links to New Jack Philly or his own 1st installment of 'Sega's Sixers Series,' while doing multiple east-coast mini tours in support of limited cassette only bootleg tapes and Fresh melt Water Collaboration T-Shirts. He definitely didnt set up a new monthly in a spot you can smoke in, with no cover, on the 4th Saturday of every month at the Dive Bar. Wait, No. He DID do all of that. Come to think of it, What have YOU done for DJ Sega lately?!?! Clubstep 4.0. Stay late!!

DJ RUXBIN (Actual Records, Don't Step)
Curator of Phonographic and lucky friend of the best DJs and producers in the city of Philadelphia. Continually bestowed with the opportunity to cop new and limited locally produced prerecorded media, DJ Ruxbin feels it necessary to keep alive the medium(s) in which sound was originally intended to be preserved and played back from. Focusing lately on bringing more exposure to the uncanny noise of Schmohawk, Clubstep and some of the most progressive and rapidly rising young bass-centric DJs in the city of Philadelphia, Ruxbin founded Actual Records in 2006 to serve the needs of releasing vinyl, tapes and limited hand made compact discs and preserving the sounds, flyers and taste-making of those willing to shape the sonic landscape of Philadelphia. Most recently booking lineups including: Qi Command, DJ BHB, Dr. Ew, Kid Queasy, Shawn Ryan and others, Phonographic is establishing a precedent of mind-boggling programming. Catch Ruxbin again with Suga Shay at When ANMLs ATTACK! in Atlantic City Saturday Feb. 26th!!
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=114012928667236

SHANE SIXTEN (Theta Ops, The Stick Up)
Fusing independent forward-thinking hip hop with the absolute hardest of UK grime and dubstep production, Six Ten has been diggin up far away gems and pairing them with unreleased and personally gifted local originals for a hot minute now. Packing spots in West Philly from Basements to 'Ultra Lounges' wasn't enough for the kid, and soon he was bumping his party from Spring Garden secret spots to North Philly warehouses. Most recently he set up a regular hip hop night every third Thurs at Dive Bar for the Stick Up. Always showing love on the local tip, blasting tracks from Larry E, Ground Up, DJ Sega, Scanz, Dumhi, Distantstarr and a slew of other area slayers. Shane's set's are always ahead of the game and usually ahead of the crowd, so don't wait til 11 to get here and look cool, get here at 9:30, listen to Shane's set, and be able to TELL people what's cool for the whole next month or so. Hip Hop plus Six Ten plus Weirdo analog wobbles = Budstep.

A night of heavy bass, good vibes, great people and amazing DJs.

NO COVER.

930-2AM
